Where does law originate from?
Is it something that we are just born to know?
Why must there be law?
These are questions that we ask regarding the way that most societies function. Some believe that people are genuinely good and the law is just there for those that are always looking to enter into evil practices or take advantage of an opportunity and protects all of the good people in society. Some believe that all people are subject to doing things that are wrong and without order and limits on acts with consequence then everyone will do much evil and order will be destroyed. Some also have the belief that law is only the means in which a government controls a society to do as they please. These are all valid arguments and as many societies and governments have created and maintained law and order, there have been many that abuse law and never allow it to be used for good. All people are subject to disobeying the law given the right circumstance. The law gives people the reminder that there will be consequences for actions that disobey the law. Law is different from morals in that morals is the desire to do good and do it while law is the command to follow or there will be consequences. Law is a good thing when used correctly lie anything else. You can use a harp to play beautiful music but yet also hit someone over the head and kill them. Does that make a harp bad? No, only the way that it is used and this goes for law as well.
King Hammurabi was a Babylonian King who reigned from 1792 to 1750 BC. During this time he instituted a form of law that would be one of the first known to human civilization. The law was named the code of Hammurabi and became a foundation to many civilizations and governments in the future, even influencing many presently today. Law in society has been the tool in which a stable government is able to maintain order while people in the society are made to be safe also.
The law is important for a society for it serves as a norm of conduct for citizens. It was also made to provide for proper guidelines and order upon the behaviour for all citizens and to sustain the equity on the three branches of the government.
The law is important because it keeps the society running. Without law there would be chaos and it would be survival of the fittest and everyman for himself. Not an ideal lifestyle for most part!
The law is important because it acts as a guideline as to what is accepted in society. Without it there would be conflicts between social groups and communiies. It is pivotal that we follow them. The law allows for easy adoption to changes that occur in the society. As time changes so will a law. Laws are constantly being amended when needed. People may not agree with a certain law but that is just the way society works.
