King Hammurabi was a Babylonian King who was the very foundation of law and justice in early civilization. King Hammurabi's law was passed on for many generations and is still considered today in how governments and society rule. King Hammurabi reigned in the area known as Central Mesopotamia which is now modern day Iraq and is known not only for the law instituted but the severe and harsh consequences for those that violated the code of law. The reign of King Hammurabi lasted from 1792 to 1750 BC and made an impact in history that will forever be remembered. The code of law instituted was known as the Code of Hammurabi. This code was a list of 282 laws and standards that also gave consequences that would allow for justice to be served. The code of Hammurabi is arguably the oldest form of law in history.
